Contemplare et
contemplata aliis tradere…

To contemplate and to give to others the fruits of contemplation.

Our Story

DNS Publications began with the publishing of several vocational books to help a wider audience gain a better understanding of our way of life.

In 2011, after a series of excellent annual retreat conferences given by Fr. Walter Wagner, OP, on the Rule of St. Augustine, the nuns of the Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary agreed that a transcription of the lectures would make a welcome addition to the monastery library.

Once the text was completed, it was clear that it would be a valuable resource for more than just the nuns - so, the community decided to edit the volume and publish it. The result was ‘Dominican Life: A Commentary on the Rule of St. Augustine’ and its reception was so warm that a number of other works on the Dominican tradition quickly followed.

Since then, DNS Publications has been pleased to make multiple new and classic titles relating to the charism of the Dominican Order available to the public and continues to source and produce new works in the spirit of sharing the fruits of Dominican contemplation.

Our Logo

When the Order of Preachers was first founded, the followers of St. Dominic quickly became a fixture of medieval urban society.

Known for their lively zeal and persistence in teaching the truths of the Catholic faith, townsfolk soon began referring to them as the ‘Hounds of the Lord’ - a play on the Latin ‘Domini’ (Lord) ‘canes’ (hounds or dogs) and their identity as ‘Dominicans’.

Our Content

For thirteen years, DNS Publications has supplied quality books on the Dominican Order, its history and its saints.
In 2024, we decided to expand our scope to cater to a wider range of readers.
So, remaining true to our Dominican identity, we looked to the Order for inspiration and took one of its mottos for our guide:

To praise. To bless. To preach.

DNS Publications seeks to publish works - both fiction and nonfiction - that further this mission in the world,
for the praise of God, the blessing of the faithful, and the preaching of the Gospel.

As our founder Saint Dominic de Guzman said, we must sow the seed of our faith, not hoard the riches we have been given.

TO PRAISE

First and foremost, our role as contemplatives is to live in adoration of the Blessed Trinity, to offer Him worship in spirit and truth, and to do all for His greater glory.

As such, we seek to publish works that are songs of praise to His glory, whether they be works of great fiction that celebrate the beauty and majesty of God and His divine plan of salvation, or nonfiction works dedicated to expounding the great truths of theology.

The second great commandment of the Gospel is to love our neighbors as ourselves, to share the love we have for God in the community of the Body of Christ and beyond it.

In this spirit, we seek to publish works that aim to remind all men and women of the love God has for them. This might be through the powerful stories of the lives of the saints, or through more devotional works meant to nourish our faith.

TO BLESS

The third fact of our Dominican vocation means that no love of neighbor would be complete without sharing with them the love we have received in our encounter
with Jesus Christ.

For this reason, we seek to publish works that educate and inform about the Catholic faith, and express it in accessible ways to all those whom God is seeking for His church. These might be apologetic works, or explanatory commentaries on all aspects of our faith.

TO PREACH

If you believe your work is made for this vision, please consider sending through a Query Letter during one of our submissions periods.

Fall Submissions for 2024 have now come to a close.
We encourage you to consider sending in your work during our Spring Submissions period, beginning March 1st 2025.
(Literary Agents are invited to submit proposals at any time.)

We remain especially interested in works that reflect the charism of the Dominican Order,
are written by Dominican authors, or focused on the work of St. Thomas Aquinas.
